Meet "Star Child", our medium sized Tongue Drum. A Tongue Drum is not a true drum but an idiophone. All of our steel drums are drums are made in BC by the master craftspeople at Kindred Spirit Drums. This particular model is tuned in the Aeolian sound family: "The Aeolian mode is a the natural minor scale. It is transformative and very soothing, with closely connected intervals allowing for smooth transitions and tension. It is a very popular scale for yoga classes and meditation, where more expressive music is desired. Reminiscent of classical piano, beautiful musical forms can be created within its note range. Our second most popular minor scale, and one of our favourites. Soothing, Transforming, Eloquent." Kindred Spirit Drums. This drum is from the Explorer Series. It's a 12' steel/ 8 note tongue drum made from carbon steel alloy shells. Each tongue on the Explorer Series is tuned with 1 fundamental tone using the Linotune program for precise tuning. This drum has deep clear notes with a long sustain, the sound is ethereal and uplifting. A great choice for meditation, or yoga or just jamming out in the woods. These drums include an internal rubber dampening system, installed pick-up system, a wooden laser-cut emblem, affixed sound-hole plug to improve the bass frequencies, and non slip rubber feet. This drum measures 36 centimeters round/5 1/4 inches high and it weighs 5kg. All of our drums rent with a brief instructional booklet, carrying case and a set of hand-made mallets. Drums may be played with thumbs, fingertips or mallets and do not require great force to produce a good volume. Please play lightly in order to keep the drum in tune. In case of cancellation 2 days before the rental period, 100% of the rental amount is refunded. If canceled one day before the rental period, 50% of the rental amount is refunded. If you cancel the same day the rental period starts, no refund is made. Read more
