This is a digital audio recorder with built in stereo microphones. It is extremely easy to use even for complete beginners! It has different modes, so you can go fully manual or just press record in Smart mode. It will give you an instant improvement over built-in camera sound.

Zoom are the go-to name for audio recorders, but I really prefer Olympus ones because they sound a lot better and are much easier to use. They have a whisper quiet noise floor, so you don't get much hiss, (as long as you set the record level right!). 

Records at different qualities including 96kHz 24-bit, 48kHz 16-bit, and even mp3s. 

A quality 16GB SD card is included, this will give you 23 hours of recording time at 48kHz! 

2x AA rechargeable batteries are included, and are supplied fully charged - however please keep some spare AAs on hand as well. They do last several hours but it depends on what you're doing. 

As well as the built in mics, you can plug in a lavalier mic or a line-in. These are 3.5mm mini-jack - the same as the headphone port on most smartphones.
I've used this to record DJ sets and live gigs, straight out of the mixer. 

I also have a Rode lavalier mic I can hire you as well if you need it - not on Fat Lama yet. I can include a mini jack to phono cable if needed (free of charge).

There is a built in speaker to check your recording quickly, and a tripod mount built in so you can put it on a tripod with the standard mount.

TWO Blue Hummingbird  condensor microphones. 

The Hummingbird is an incredible sounding microphone with tons of clarity, as well as the ability to rotate the capsule through 180 degrees - helping you place this mic in the perfect position! 

This brilliant design means that your positioning is never constrained by the body of the mic and the cable, unlike other microphones! Additionally it means you can tweak the position slightly without moving the mic stand at all. I particularly find this useful when close miking acoustic guitars and toms, where tiny adjustments can make a huge difference. 

Sounds amazing on everything I've ever tried it on, outperforming my large diaphragm condensors more often than not.

The successor to the stalwart MKH 416, this is a modern, low noise and reliable shotgun microphone with exceptional noise rejection and nice sounding off axis rejection.

Included with the mic is a Rycote Windshield kit with Rycote Windjammer. This system performs extremely well outdoors even in strong winds - I have had good results recording on a windy beach, for example. 

If extreme wind rejection is not the order of the day, also included (but not pictured) is a foam cover for the microphone, perfect for indoor dialogue recording where noise rejection is needed.

Large Diaphragm Blue BlueBird Condenser microphone with shockmount.

This is a very high quality microphone, perfectly suited to vocals, acoustic guitar, guitar amps, strings, upright bass, percussion, kick drum - basically it excels on everything. 

I'm a big fan of Blue mics, they sound great and are extremely useful. 
Normally their products are very specialised, but this one is a genuine all rounder that does very very well on lots of things, and especially vocals.

 This is an extensive radio mic kit with a top end DPA 4066 lavalier mic, Sennheiser G3 Radio Transmitter & Receiver, and a multitude of lavalier mounts to mount and conceal the mic on talent while absolutely minimising the risk of mic rustle. 

The DPA 4066 is a tiny, highly concealable mic, that sounds fantastic. It compensates for HF lost from being underneath clothing, with a natural 10kHz lift and a locking 3.5mm terminator. The included Sennheiser G3 radio set is a stalwart radio system for the industry, a broadcast standard set that has diversity and preconfigured channels to minimise risk of interference. 

Included within this set are 5 different hand selected lavalier mounts and stickies, to help you easily mount the lavalier mic to your subject in any concealed manner you can imagine, while everything to ensure noise free dialogue. The bubblebee mounts keep clothing away from contacting the mic head while isolating it from movement, and there's also a Hide-A-Mic bra mount which simply clips to the bra in the sternum area. 

A high performance Rycote furry windshield is also included for outdoor usage in windy environments. This kit is supplied with 4x unused brand new alkaline AA batteries, as well as 4x fully charged AA rechargeable batteries. Two options for belt pack strap are included, an Ursa belt and a fully enclosed pouch belt. 

I believe this is the most comprehensive lavalier kit available in London on Fat Lama, providing the perfect balance of extreme quality lavalier microphone with modest wireless radio kit to keep the cost sensible, and a multitude of mounting solutions.

 One of the most popular choices for kick drum and bass amps, this dynamic mic has an enormous SPL and great attack for an instantly great sound. 

One of my favourite mics, this is designed to hang from a mic cable over the grill cloth. It has a brilliantly crafted frequency response which means you do not need to EQ the signal in most cases. While known as a mic for amps, it is actually also extremely good on drums and can be considered a less expensive alternative to the MD421. On Toms and snare it is fantastic. Beware of the e906, which has an extended HF and LF boost. You don't want that. Built in EQs sound poor, and you do not want above 15kHz for these sources in any situation.
