Provides much faster aperture for low light usage and has better edge to edge sharpness.

The autofocus motor is fairly loud, so photography in especially quiet locations be prepared to get some looks from others. 

The wide aperture helps to get some really clear and rich shots in low light conditions (great for night street photgraphy), and the shallow depth of field gives a lovely background blur for portrait photography. 

Downside being a rather noisy autofocus - no good for shooting video with audio.

*PLEASE NOTE* these work perfectly with Canon EF mounts and can be used with other cameras with a second adapter, i.e. using a metabones EF - E adapter to use with Sony cameras. However - the Metabones Speed booster adapters *which have optics / glass elements inside* do not work perfectly with these - the M42 adapter digs into the felt and it is not possible to adjust apertue whilst attached.
