Osmo UV Protection Oil is a superior exterior oil that blocks the greying effect of the Sun’s UV rays by a factor of 12. It offers superb durability alongside biocide protection against insects and fungal growth.

TIPS

UV-Protection Oils are recommended only for vertically structured timber (drip angle min. 10º) to enable the rain to drip off rather than stay on the wood’s surface for prolonged lengths of time.

The high-energy UV rays of the sun destroy the lignin in wood: it greys. Up to now, only wood finishes with colour pigments could possibly prevent this effect. With Osmo UV-Protection Oil, you have the possibility to protect your wood almost invisibly. UV-Protection Oil contains special ingredients that stall the greying effect by 12 times (UV factor 12). For a reliable UV protection, the wood finish must be applied more generously than other wood stains from Osmo.

The Osmo UV Protection Oil has been designed in order to combat the greying effects of the Sun’s UV rays. Many woods like oak, teak and iroko to name just a few will become grey or silver over time and this oil will slow down that greying process by a factor of 12 when compared to natural wood. Normally the Sun’s rays can penetrate through the clear coatings and bleach the wood below but this product contains special ingredients to combat this. The ‘Extra’ contains Biocide which is a combination of insecticide and fungicide making it ideal for outside use.

This product is micro-porous, thus allowing the wood to breathe. Because the oil does not form a seal on the surface of the wood it cannot peel, flake, crack or blister. It is based on natural oils and offers a very clear, natural effect when compared to other ‘clear’ oils and penetrates into the wood grain aiding the natural elasticity of the wood and helping to reduce shrinkage and swelling.

Drying time of 4-6 hrs after the first coat, but is 12 hours after both coats have been applied.

3240 Rapid White requires a clear second coat for best results. If you prefer more intensity of colour, you can apply just two coats as a stand-alone finish.
Application of second coat can be done as soon as the first coat has dried. However, it is important to wait approx. 24hrs when applying colour for the first coat, before applying Polyx&reg;-Oil as the clear top coat.
If you prefer the look of untreated wood or to retain the light character of the wood please use Osmo Polyx&reg;-Oil 3044 Raw.
A base coat of Osmo Wood Protector is recommended for use in bathrooms or kitchens.
