In perfect working condition and with a carry bag this lens is a great ultra wide-angle zoom lens which I've been using for architectural photography.

The 17-35mm f/2.8D ED-IF AF-S Nikkor is an F-mount zoom lens manufactured and sold by Nikon. For 35mm format cameras, this lens covers a wide-angle range, and is well known as a photojournalists' lens. For Nikon DX format cameras, this lens covers a wide-to-normal range.
It is generally considered to be one of the finest zoom lenses ever produced, comparing favourably with many wide-angle prime Nikkor lenses. In 2006  the lens was ranked in 4th place among all Nikkor's both prime and zoom, and in first place among all zoom lenses by any manufacturer.

It is an effective lens for architecture photography, photojournalism, documentary and general photographic applications.
A fast internal focus system does not extend the lens while focusing and the Silent Wave autofocus motor provides smooth and near silent autofocus which is especially important if shooting video. Manual focus override allows for precise control of focus even in AF mode.
