Fairly standard bass guitar, great sound and really easy to play.  The action can be adjusted in 1 minute (literally), and so can be set up however you like.

Outside, this is a warhorse, with nicks in the finish a silly sticker on the back and plenty of character; Japanese bodies are known for their excellent construction and I'm sure this instrument will outlive me. Inside, this bass is as good as new. The best of classic and modern in every way.

The first ever electric bass, and still #1 today.

Classic sunburst, rosewood fretboard, open-gear clover-leaf tuners, tortoiseshell pickguard, serial-number stamped neckplate. All original, apart from the replacement of the Fender split pick-up with a beautifully crafted Kent Armstrong PBV-1. 

The Fender Precision has made it into the hands of pretty much any famous bass guitarist at some point in their career (or all of it). This 1972 model is a perfect example. It bears some of the wear you'd expect from a well-played guitar, but it sounds massive, across the tonal range. Fully maintained and set up, and ready for you to hire.

A piece of history, a beauty to behold and play. 

The President Bass was built from 1963 to 1967. Hofner was as well-known for its basses as for its 6-strings, with bass versions of the Committee, Senator, Verythin and, of course, that now very famous Violin Bass all on offer at the same time as the President. 

This particular guitar was bought in auction. It had seen some action and then some neglect. The nut had broken off below the G-string, replaced by a nail; the D-tuner had been bent sideways into the headstock; and the pick-ups were producing as much output as a crackly crystal radio set (older generation reference).  So, this became a bit of a project. 

Cleaned up, rather than refinished, to keep that lovely depth and patina; reset the tuner, to retain the original; replaced the nut with an aged Hofner 3-ply nut; and hand-rewound the pick-ups. Added to that, a new custom-case . . . there's no off-the-shelf case that can take the length and depth of this beauty.  All in all probably more cost than its remaining market value. But what a piece of history. 

And what a pleasure to play - the "slenda-nek", the easily accessed 24 frets, and the huge warm tone of those Novasonic humbuckers. Close your eyes, and turn back the years.

Classic Fender Precision Bass, with all the treble and punch that comes with that combination of maple neck and beautifully grained ash body.

This one has its distinctive chips and scratches, not many, and no more than you'd expect.  Properly set up, the neck plays beautifully, the electrics are perfectly earthed, and the sound has all of that punch these ash-bodied basses are famous for.  Roll back the tone knob, and you're back into that classic P-Bass warmth from the 60s.  Utterly versatile, and a lovely player!

1974 Gibson Ripper LS-9 Bass, as made famous by Krist Novoselic in Nirvana (he liked them so much, he had four of them!).

Really versatile guitar, adapting easily to many styles, with everything from deep warm bass to clicky treble.  Loaded with Gibson's Q-system, basically preset EQ options and mid- and treble roll-off pots instead of standard tone pots, which unlocks a wide range of tones.  Lovely sound.

Maple neck and fretboard, with an alder body.  Plays beautifully with that long-scale 34.5" neck.  It's seen a life on the road, and bears testament with the nicks and chips you'd expect.  But in terms of hardware, fretboard, frets, and electrics, it's in superb condition.

A great iconic bass, famous in the hands of 60s bass legends Jack Bruce, John Entwhistle and Bill Wyman, amongst others.

Has a short 30.5" scale and an incredibly narrow superfast neck. 

Hugely versatile, plays and sounds just fabulous.  All the way from the warm thickness of the neck humbucker, to the edge of the bridge mini-humbucker, to the woodiness of the 4th position.  Plus the added feature of a levered mute, which gives you more of a stand-up bass response.  A huge amount in a small package!  And a great bass, whatever your chosen style.

It's a 1969 guitar, so it's an aged beauty.  It's seen a life on the road, and bears testament with the nicks and chips you'd expect.  But in terms of hardware, fretboard, frets, and electrics, it's in fantastic condition.  A true classic.

4-string electric bass guitar with active Bartolini pickups. Piano black with a slender neck that plays super smoothly. Comes with an amp cable, shoulder strap and a soft case. 

The body is mahogany with a 5-piece maple and rosewood neck (also lacquered black) with a rosewood fretboard. Recently replaced the strings and readjusted the neck tension. The two split-coil ceramic pickups run through a 3-band EQ and lean towards sounding quite warm/heavy. I bought the bass back in 2010 and only rarely play it so it pretty much still looks like new. It lives in Bloomsbury but drop off/pickup locations can be flexible within central London. Let me know if you have any questions!

Yamaha RBX170 Electric Bass Guitar

The instrument is referred to as a budget bass, perfect for beginners. But it's actually remarkably high quality and it gives a warm and rich tone.
