An all-mahogany tonewood used for the body follows the original design specification of the 60s SG, with a thin mahogany neck topped with a rosewood fingerboard. Gibson have counterbalanced the traditionally heavy weight of Mahogany with an ultra-thin flat top wood finish for an extremely comfortable playing set-up.
490R and 498T humbuckers offer traditionally smooth tonal response, but allow you to really crank the gain for that vintage top-end bite of the standard SG, great for those loud and crunchy lead sounds employed by the likes of Eric Clapton, Angus Young and Frank Zappa.

This new model embodies all the tone, feel, and look of the original rendition of this legendary guitar, all wrapped into a design that remains one of the most versatile guitars available today.

At the end of the resurgent "Dan Smith" era, Fender introduced a new Stratocaster with only two control knobs and a input jack mounted on the top of the body for 1983 and 1984. This guitar is referred to as the "Standard Stratocaster" (not to be confused with the later Made in Mexico Strat of the same name). We came across this beauty in a trade scenario. It sounds resonant, and the neck feels great. One minute on this thing, and you will understand why this era of Stratocaster is so revered. Why? Tone, baby, great tone.

Has a few of scratches on the underside of the body (see pictures) but not noticeable at all.

I've had this guitar for 10 years but it's only been gigged about 10 times and never gets played at home as I use a different guitar.

The jack socket is a touch loose but the electrics work totally fine. I'd suggest a touch of gaffa tape on it if it bothered you.
