A sophisticated noise gate that can tame a single pedal or an entire effects loop! The Silencer’s three-control layout provides precise fine-tuning to fit your system, axe and playing style. Threshold adjusts how much level is required to open the noise gate and allow a signal to pass thru. Reduction regulated the degree to which the gated signal is reduced and is variable between -70dB and +4dB. Release controls how long the gate remains open after the signal drops below the Threshold. Release time is variable between 8ms and 4 seconds.

I/O includes ¼ inch Input, Output, Send and Return jacks. The Mysto-Dysto 'distortion unit' is a simple, primitive distortion; no frills, just an aggressive, slightly fuzzy, retro distortion which would be a good choice for a variety of styles, including classic, punk and old-school metal.

Just as with many other distortion pedals, especially older ones, the Mysto-Dysto sounds at its best (in my opinion) when it is cranked up with the Intensity (gain) at - or near to - its maximum.

Even at this setting, the Mysto-Dysto remains very responsive to playing dynamics, due to the uncompressed nature of its distortion. At lower gain levels, this lack of compression translates as a lack of sustain, but yields a nice vintage overdriven tone - especially for playing single note lines - where your pick attack determines the level of distortion, and held notes smoothly make the transition back to a clean tone.

One notable asset of the Mysto-Dysto is the freakishly wide sweep of its tone control; from soft and very muffled at one end, to harsh, biting treble at the other. While the range around the middle of the tone control's sweep is going to be the most useable in most situations, this wide range could be very useful at times, for special effects for example, or if you like to stack different distortion pedals or want to use it boost an overdriven amp (in a similar fashion to how you'd use a treble booster).

Crazy noisy germanium fuzz pedal for guitar. Can produce a wide range of distinctive fuzz tones from polite to full self oscillation.

The legendary Big Cheese, a fantastic recreation of that valve-channelled fuzz of the 60s & 70s, and some. In Lovetone's own words, "a loving homage to the nasty, buzzy yet gorgeous and harmonically rich early fuzz". 

Plenty of permutations here with the variety of tones and drive. And plenty of fun to be had: set to Cheese, turn up the Curds, and you're straight into that world of gated fuzz cut-out that runs from late 60s Stones to mid-90s Radiohead.

Perfect retro remake. Based on the 1960's SAM ASH FUZZZ BOXX and ASTROTONE FUZZ made in New York City in 1966-68 by the Astro Amp company, it's even built from a stock of transistors from 1966. 

The Analog Man gang worked really hard to create a rounded sound, as true to the low-end as the high-end. And they've nailed it. Classic 60s fuzz and distortion.

In production since 1986, as a follow-up to the Boss DD-2, the go-to digital delay pedal for thousands of guitarists. So many choices on the market nowadays, but this is the first and the original. 

Delay settings from 12.5ms to 800ms, from single to infinite repeat, and a Hold function to capture a looped echo to play over. Classic digital delay.

The Holy Grail! A 1983 Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer. Not the reissue. This one's the original.

Ibanez produced their fabled "9" series for a relatively short run, from 1982 to 1985. This is one of those, and comes loaded with the original (and venerated) JRC4558D chip. Famous for its "mid-hump" boost" to midrange frequencies. And today, one of the most successful, replicated and "modded" pedals in history, A solid gold (or green) classic overdrive.

In almost perfect condition, with barely a nick or scuff. And sounds the business!

A classic overdrive pedal, without the fuzz of many modern overdrives. This one very uniquely the first ever: Serial #0001. As Lovetone put it, "an instant flash-back to that dynamic, singing, BIG late 60's / early 70's brown sound that is associated with countless classic records spanning the whole musical spectrum . . . will make any new guitar sound 30 years older!" It can be pretty subtle too. Best experienced through an amp that's already cooking!

Tame by modern standards, but back in the early-70s, this was a pioneer. A Volume and Wah pedal in one. OK, quite an innovation. And then, why not, white noise filters that enable you to recreate the sound of a raging tornado or the surf on a beach. Oh, and just because there's still some space, a push button police siren, that can be activated in parallel with the instrument signal. Mad, maybe. But listen to 70s glam band The Sweet's classic Blockbuster and you'll know exactly why you need to try this one!

Paul Crowther first produced the Hot Cake when he was with Split Enz in the 1970s. He knew what he wanted, couldn't find it, so made it himself. 

And only a couple of new releases since then, he's stayed true to the basic formula - a great fat overdrive that retains the underlying tonality of the guitar without resorting to fuzz. So good, I've got two!

The Electro-Harmonix Big Muff is the stuff of legends, so much so that it's had more replicas and tributes than guitarists that have used it (well, probably). 

This is one of the very finest of those replicas, based on the 1973 - 77 Big Muff, also known as the Ram's Head. Staggering sustain. The perfect pedal for pretty much any solo by David Gilmour since the 1970s.  

Loved by: Big Muff fans everywhere, and anyone that wants their guitar to sing, and keep singing. 

One small nick to the case, but otherwise in perfect condition, and that sustain will truly blow you away.

It's a micro-pedal, but it can really kick down doors. 

Built to replicate the sound of a far more expensive (and larger) overdrive, its size may fool you at first. But when you plug it in, this delivers in spades. Terrific cooking valve overdrive.  

Loved by: Those wanting to recreate the overdrive of amps cranked to 11, without waking up the neighbours (much).

Famed and loved for his beautiful custom amps, Reinhold Bogner has taken it all one step further with a limited range of pedals designed with audio pioneer Rupert Neve (whose equipment has underpinned recordings as diverse as Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" and Nirvana's "Nevermind"). 

And the result: "fire-breathing pandemonium". Nice touch too with the central jewel lamp that reacts to the dynamics of your playing.

An instant gateway to the tone of a precisely cocked wah pedal. By adjusting the sweep knob, you can activate your chosen sweet-spot tone, without in-flight wah pedal adjustment. Probably most recognisable when set to replicate the harmonic overdrive of Mark Knopfler's Money For Nothing riff.

More often seen in purple, this is one of a Limited Edition run of 300 Riots in metallic green, with lovely cream vintage control knobs. 

All the quality and versatility you'd expect from the Suhr brand. Lovely range from overdrive to full-on distortion, and some very nice modulation from dynamic to high gain vintage with the 3-way voice toggle.  

Loved by: The ones that need that little bit more, not just overdrive, but a heavy sprinkling of distortion on top, pretty please.

A brilliantly designed overdrive that takes an amp at reasonable settings, and makes it sound like it would sound if it were naturally driven to pure, smooth, tube distortion. 

It's actually two overdrive pedals in one box, each with separate controls, and internal DIP switches to vary the level of Clean, Overdrive & Distortion output. Basically the freedom to set and dial in a range of overdrive levels that you'd need 2 or 3 pedals to achieve. Modern-day classic!

Bar none, the best Tube Amp Simulator I've ever used. Not just the options for California, British, and Tweed amps. Not just the options for Clean to Hot-Wired Overdrive. But even options for Mic placement - the most subtle of the options, but still opening up an even wider range of sonic possibilities. No need for a wall of amps and cabs. Just this. Superb!
