Ears is our take on Tom Whitwell’s Mikrophonie module – a contact microphone and amplifier allowing you to generate a large palette of sounds by scratching, tapping, and more generally collecting any kind of acoustic waves surrounding your modular case – even speaker feedback. Ears is a perfect match for physical synthesis modules like Rings or Elements, but it can also be the gateway between external audio sources and your modular system.
Its built-in amplifier section can provide up to 40dB of gain, with a high impedance input suitable for guitars or other electro-acoustic instruments. It will effortlessly deliver clean amplification for line level signals or external contact microphones. Compared to the original Mikrophonie, Ears has been augmented with an envelope follower, and its amplification section has been redesigned from scratch for low noise and low distortion.

Doorway is a linear video key generator and compositor, also known as a soft keyer.  A typical video key is generated using a comparator circuit, where the ouput is a binary state: on or off.  Doorway instead achieves key generation via high gain amplification and clipping of the input source. Mutable Instruments Shelves Eurorack EQ Module
Shelves brings to Eurorack modular systems something we are all very familiar with: the 4-band parametric EQ typically found in console channel strips. But this time, there’s CV control! The first band is a low-pass shelving filter, the fourth band a high-pass shelving filter, and band #2 and #3 have full-blown parametric controls with bandwidth (Q) adjustment. All analog.
Shelves will provide a subtler spectral shaping &amp; coloring than standard multimode filters. It is particularly useful in the feedback loop of effects or more generally in feedback patches in which the slightest tonal change has drastic consequences. Or as a novel way of shaping sounds obtained by west-coast techniques. Or as a formant-ish filter. Or to emulate the body of instruments in the context of physical modelling patches…
Unlike console EQs, each band is not restricted to a narrow range of frequencies: it can be swept across the entire audio range, from 20 Hz to 20kHz – with unexpected phase cancellations or reinforcements when corrections compete in the same frequency range. All parameters have direct CV control. Global frequency and cut/boost CV inputs allow simultaneous CV control of all channels.

Technical characteristics


Evolved from the oscillator mixing section of Mutable Instruments’ desktop hybrid synths, Warps is designed to blend and combine two audio signals. A variety of wave-shaping and cross-modulation methods – some of them emulating classic analog circuits, some of them purely digital – are provided by the module.
With Warps, the cross-modulated sound can be sculpted with control voltages along 4 dimensions: by controlling the amplitude and distorting the input signals, by smoothly scanning through the collection of modulation algorithms, and by adjusting a timbre parameter controlling the brightness/harshness of the modulated signal.
Since many classic cross-modulation effects work best when the carrier is a simple waveform – for example, a sine wave for ring-modulation or a buzzing waveform for vocoding – Warps includes a digital oscillator offering a handful of classic waveforms. This internal oscillator, which tracks V/Oct and supports through-zero FM, will replace the carrier audio input – freeing up one oscillator in your system for other duties!


VCAs are the cornerstones of modular patches: shaping the amplitude or timbre of a tone with an envelope, animating a mixture of several oscillators, controlling the amount of filter modulation with a random source or a touch controller, applying an envelope on the linear FM signal hitting an oscillator… are all possible uses of these super versatile building blocks. That’s why you never have enough of them. What about four more?
Veils provides four VCAs with an adjustable response curve. Veils’ outputs are daisy-chained, allowing adjacent groups of 2, 3, or all 4 channels, to be mixed together.


 Yarns is a MIDI interface providing up to 4 channels of CV/Gate conversion, and providing some of the MIDI message processing features of Mutable Instruments’ MIDIpal, including arpeggiator, euclidean sequencer, and a SH-101 inspired step sequencer.
Yarns provides 4 CV outputs and 4 Gate/trigger outputs, which can be assigned to up to 4 voices. In single voice mode, note, velocity, modulation and aftertouch (or other CC) CV are produced, along with a gate, a trigger, and a clock/reset output. In two voices mode, two channel of note, modulation or aftertouch CV are produced, along with two gates, and clock/reset outputs. Finally, in four voices mode, four pairs of CV/Gate outputs are provided.
The 2 and 4-voice modes are available both in a “polyphonic” and “multitimbral” flavour. The former receives chords from one single MIDI channel and dispatches them to the voices; while the later provides independent monophonic parts – which can be addressed to different MIDI channels, keyboard ranges, or even velocity levels. Various note priority modes (low, high, last) and polyphonic allocation schemes (voice-stealing, random, cyclic) allows you to fine-tune the CV/Gate conversion to your playing style. Each voice has a built-in digital LFO to interpret modulation wheel messages as a vibrato; can respond to pitch-bend messages; or can be smoothed with a glide/portamento control – no need for a dedicated module and patches to get the right response from a MIDI keyboard!
Other unique features include support for microtunings (either through standard MIDI messages or from a selection of historical tunings or indian ragas), just intonation, and an audio output mode which can transform one, two, or four of the CV outputs into simple digital oscillators.



    The ART ProMIX is a compact 3-channel microphone mixer designed as an easy, cost effective solution for mixers and preamps with minimal microphone inputs. The ProMIX features 3 microphone inputs with 3-pin XLR female connectors. The mixer is capable of supplying up to 18V phantom power to condenser microphones. The ART MyMonitor is a personal monitor mixer designed to suit the individual level needs of performers. The mixer features an XLR microphone input and Thru output. A monitor input features a stereo 1/4&#34; phone input and excepts a line level input from external mixers, recorders etc. The mixer is designed to allow talent to set their own microphone levels without effecting the level on output. “Hum” in an audio system is often caused by loop effects which act like antennas. These loops can easily pick up a 60 Hz (or higher harmonics) hum transmitted by electrical wiring. Typically, these loops are connected via grounds, more commonly called “ground loops”. The safest way to eliminate unwanted noise is with the CleanBOX II. Some examples of Ground Loops:

    The ProSplit provides one direct output and one transformer isolated output from a single microphone. Applications include sending the direct output to the main or Front-of-House mixer, with the second isolated output being sent to a monitor or recording mixer. Balanced lines offer increased immunity to external electrical noise, such as hum. Since a balanced system minimizes induced noise, it is the preferred method of connecting audio gear, especially when long lengths of cable are used.  
One section of the CLEANBoxPro converts two channels of consumer-level unbalanced input signals into two channels of pro line-level balanced output signals. It has two RCA jack inputs and a stereo mini-phone jack input connected in parallel. The balanced output feeds two XLR male jacks.

Another seriously useful little utility box from ART. The Coolswitch lets you connect a common source to two different channels. It also lets you connect two sources to one channel when configured in the opposite direction.
The coolswitch may not be the most exciting bit of Default you ever buy but it might end up being one of the most useful. There are plenty of applications for this little gizmo but one of the most popular might be using it as an amp switch for a guitar so, you can run two amps for a bigger or more varied sound. You might also end up using the coolswitch if you&#39;re running short of inputs on your desk and you need to double up or, indeed, if you wanted to run two guitars into the one amp for whatever reason. With the usual rugged ART construction, two 1/4&#34; inputs, two 1/4&#34; outputs and handy LEDs on the top of the box to indicate what routing is in effect the coolswitch really does all you could possibly expect from a switching box.

The Phantom I is not a masked vigilante but is, in fact, a useful box from ART for providing phantom power where there is none. Phantom power is required by most condenser microphones and is usually supplied by your desk or audio interface. However, in situations where this is not possible the Phantom I comes in extremely handy. The Phantom I supplies phantom power within+/- 2V of 48V and so, powers most microphones although, it&#39;s always worth checking with the manufacturer first!

Module A-106-5 is a 12dB multimode filter that is based on the filter circuit of the Oberheim SEM module.The filter is equipped with a band pass output and a combined low/notch/high pass output. For this output a control knob defines the relation between low and high pass signal. If both signals appear at the same level (i.e. middle position of the Mix knob) one obtains a notch filter. Otherwise the low or high pass signal predominates. The module does not feature self oscillation in contrast to most of the other filters of the A-100 system. The module generates a distorted audio signal if the level control is set to about 50% (i.e. center position) or more with A-100 standard signals like VCOs.

The function and operation of this module is very similar to the Wasp filter module A-124. But the sound of both filters is very different ! We will publish no separate user&#39;s manual for the A-106-5 but a combined manual for both A-106-5 and A-124. The only functional difference is the position of the sockets and controls, and the function of the controls CV2 (A-124: normal attenuator, A-106-5: polarizer)

Module A-119 (External Input / Envelope Follower) is designed to allow external audio signals to be integrated into the System A-100. It comprises a pre-amp, envelope follower, and comparator.
The pre-amp has two inputs: an unbalanced input for line level signals, with a gain factor of from 0 to 20, and a balanced input with a gain factor of from 0 to 500, for insertion of low level signals, for instance from a microphone or electric guitar.
The Envelope Follower reads the signal level of the input, and puts out a proportional voltage as an envelope at its own output.
The comparator generates a gate signal whenever the input goes above an adjustable trigger threshold.
Three LEDs help you keep track of overload, the envelope, and the gate signal.

Module A-132-3 is composed of two identical voltage controlled amplifiers (VCA). Each VCA has a manual gain control and a control voltage input with attenuator. The character of the control scale can be switched to linear or exponential. All inputs and outputs are DC coupled. Consequently the VCAs can be used to process both audio and control voltages. The input has no attenuator available but is capable to process up to 16Vss signals (i.e. -8V...+8V) without distortion.

A-132-8 is an octal VCA and primarily planned for polyphonic applications. The module contains four VCA pairs. The amplification range for each VCA is 0 ... 1. 0V CV corresponds to amplification 0 (full suppression), +10V CV to amplification 1. Each pair includes two daisy-chained VCAs. One VCA has a linear control scale, for the second VCA linear or exponential control scale can be chosen by means of jumpers. We decided to provide two VCAs for each voice because usually one VCA is required for loudness envelope and a second one for velocity (or other functions like individual voltage-controlled loudness of each voice, amplitude modulation and so on). All VCAs are DC coupled and can be used in special applications also for the processing of control voltages.These controls and in/outputs are available:

The module features two Default Gain controls (GL, GX), that enable the opening of the first four VCAs (L) and/or second four VCAs (X). For this the controls GL and GX generate two internal control voltages 0...+10V which are connected to the switching contacts of the sockets 1L...4L (control GL) and 1X...4X (control GX). As long as no patch cable is inserted into the socket in question the internal default control voltage (GL or GX) is used to control the corresponding VCA. This is necessary when the VCA in question is not in use (i.e. no external CV available). Otherwise the VCA would close and there would be no output signal even if the other VCA in the chain is open. The controls GL and GX are also useful for testing polyphonic patches (e.g. for tuning the VCOs).As soon as a patch cable is inserted into a CV input socket the corresponding internal default control voltage (CL or CX knob) is no longer used to control the VCA in question. Rather the external CV patched to the CV input socket does now control the level of the VCA in question.

Module A-138 is a four channel mixer, which can be used with either control voltages or audio signals. Each of the four inputs has an attenuator, and there&#39;s a master attenuator, so that the mixer can be used at the end of the audio chain - ie. it can be used to interface directly with an external mixer, amplifier, etc.
The module can be supplied in two versions:
A-138 a: potentiometers with linear response, so especially suitable for control voltage mixing.
A-138 b: potentiometers with logarithmic response, so especially suitable for audio signal mixing.

Module A-140 is an envelope generator, and, since it puts out control voltages, counts as one of the modulation devices in a modular system. As soon as the gate input receives sufficient voltage, the ADSR generates a variable voltage, changing in time, called an envelope. This varying voltage is output in normal (positive) and inverted form, and can be used, eg., for voltage controlled modulation of a VCO, VCF, or VCA, or for processing other modules&#39; inputs and outputs.
The shape of the envelope is governed by four parameters: Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release.
The envelope is started (triggered) by a gate signal either from the INT.GATE voltage on the system bus, or, if a signal is put into it, from the gate input socket.
The envelope can also be re-triggered, ie. start from scratch again, each time a trigger signal is sensed at the Retrig. input socket, when the gate is still open.
Module A-140 has available a three-position toggle switch to select one of three time ranges. The envelope duration ranges from about 50us (microseconds) up to several minutes.
In combination with the Comparator module A-167 a free-running &#34;ADSR-LFO&#34; can be realized.

Module A-145 is a low frequency oscillator, which produces cyclical control voltages in a very wide range of frequencies. Five waveforms are available: sawtooth, inverted sawtooth, triangle, sine and square wave.


The LFO can be used as a modulation source for any number of modules - for instance modulating the pulse width or frequency of a VCO, modulation of the cut-off frequency of a VCF, or amplitude modulation with a VCA.


A three-way switch lets you select three frequency ranges, spanning from one cycle every several minutes at the lowest, to moderate audio frequency at the highest (about 4-5 kHz).


The LFO signal can also be synchronised, via the reset input.

The A148 has two identical sample &amp; hold modules, designed to produce “staircase” voltages.
The signal present at the sample input is sampled at a rate set by the trigger input, and held at that voltage at the S&amp;H output. The exact shape of the staircase depends on the sort of waveform at the sample input: NOISE or RANDOM signals produce random patterns, an LFO produces rising and falling staircase patterns. Two LED’s for each S&amp;H indicate the voltage positive or negative) of the sampled signal.
Each half fo the A-148 can operate as a S&amp;H (sample&amp;hold) or T&amp;H (track&amp;hold), this can be selected by a jumper. In T&amp;H mode the output signal follows the input signal while the trigger input is &#34;high&#34;. As soon as the trigger input turns to &#34;low&#34; the last voltage is stored. The factory setting is S&amp;H for the upper part and T&amp;H for the lower part. In addition the complete A-100 voltage range -12...+12V can be processed (no longer limited to -8...+8V as for the origianl version).


It includes trigger and reset inputs, four in / outputs, and a common out / input. Each time a pulse is received at the trigger input socket, the common out / input is connected to the next in / output. After the fourth in / output, the next trigger makes it step back to the first again, and so on. A positive pulse at the reset input switches the out / input immediately back to the first in / output (see Fig. 1). Voltages in the range -12V...+12V at the O/I resp. I/O sockets can be processed by the module.
Four LEDs indicate the active in / output (ie. the on that is connected to the out / input at any particular time).
With an additional switch the number of steps can be set to 2, 3 or 4. Moreover the revised module allows to process voltages in the full A-100 voltage range (i.e. -12V...+12V).

Module A-156 is a Dual Control Voltage Quantizer.
A quantizer converts a continous control voltage in the range 0...+10V into a stepped output voltage in the same voltage range (i.e. only certain voltages occur).
Normally 1/12 V steps are used to obtain semitone steps.
Quantizer 2 of the A-156 allows more sophisticated quantizing modes like major scale (i.e. only voltages corresponding to the major scale), minor scale, major chord, minor chord, fundamental+fifth and addition of seventh or sixth when chords are selected.
Only those voltages appear at the CV output which comply with the selection rule (e.g. minor chord with seventh).
The mode setting of quantizer 2 is done with 3 switches (1-0-1 type with middle position).
From the factory quantizer 1 is working in the semitone mode.
But there is a jumper on the pc board that can be changed so that even quantizer 1 uses the same scale as quantizer 2.  
On top of that the A-156 is provided with a common transpose CV input having an additive effect on both quantizers. This input is quantized in semitone steps. A typical application is the transposition of a sequence generated by the A-155 by a second control voltage (e.g. coming from the MIDI-CV interface A-190).


The signal applied to the input socket appears as a buffered signal at the three output sockets. Each output has it&#39;s own buffer, i.e. the three output sockets are not simply connected to each other. The lower output of the upper unit is normalled in the factory to the input of the lower unit. That way the module works as a single 1-in-6 buffered multiple provided that no signal is applied to the input of the lower unit.

Module A-185-2 is a precision control voltage adder/buffer. Precision means that the amplification of the inputs without attenuators is exactly 1.00 and is suitable to add control voltages for the pitch control of VCOs (e.g. from keyboard + sequencer 1 + sequencer 2). Summing resistors matched to 0.1% are used to obtain an accuracy of 0.1% for the added voltages.
The module is equipped with four CV inputs: one with attenuator and three without attenuator. Each input is normalled to +1 V (i.e. if no plug is inserted the input contributes 1 V to the sum appearing at the output).
The input with attenuator can be used for common modulations (e.g. from an LFO, ADSR, Theremin, Pitch-Bender) for all VCOs connected to the output. The Lev.1 control is used to adjust the depth of the modulation, the first switch selects the polarity of the modulation. If no signal is connected to the first socket the attenuator works as a (fine) tuning knob because a voltage in the range 0...+1V (right position of the switch) or 0...-1V (left position of the switch) is added to the CV output.
The inputs without attenuators are planned to add control voltages coming out of keyboards, sequencers, Midi-to-CV interfaces, ribbon controllers or other CV sources that follow the 1V/oct standard. For example the CV of a keyboard can be used to transpose the CV coming from a sequencer, or the CV of a slow sequencer can be used to transpose the CV from a fast sequencer.
Each input is equipped with a three-position switch that determines if the corresponding voltage is added (right position), subtracted (left position) or if the input has no effect (center position). If no plug is inserted the corresponding switch works as an octave switch for the lower three sections as the default 1 V are added or subtracted to the output voltage according to the switch position. The first switch can be used to add a variable voltage to the sum output. The variable voltage is adjusted with the Lev.1 control and the knob works then as kind of a (fine) tuning control.
The module is equipped with 4 outputs: three non-invertíng and one inverting ouput. An internal jumper can be used to connect the non-inverted or inverted output to the CV line of the A-100 bus. That way the module can used to control several VCOs that are connected to the same bus board as the A-185-2 (same functionality as A-185-1).
Remark for A-185-2 users: There is a pin header with three pins (labelled JP5) near the bus cable connector. If no jumper is installed there is no connection between the outputs of the A-185-2 and the CV line of the A-100 bus. In the lower position the normal CV output of the A-185-2 is connected to the CV line of the A-100 bus. In the upper position the inverted CV output of the A-185-2 is connected to the CV line of the A-100 bus.

This is our VC Rotator, a stepped routing module for audio, CVs, gates and triggers! A typical VC switch can only switch one source to multiple destinations, or multiple sources to one destination. On our VC Rotator there is no such limitation! The same number of inputs and outputs exist, so instead of 4:1 or 1:4, this module always swaps 4 inputs to 4 outputs. It can also be divided into 2 sections of 2:2.
All four inputs get routed to the four outputs based on the CV and Clock controls. This is indicated in the following four (4) states:1. An input is routed to the output with the same number - 1:1, 2:2, 3:3, 4:42. An input is routed to the output with the number offset by 1 - 1:2, 2:3, 3:4, 4:13. An input is routed to the output with the number offset by 2 - 1:3, 2:4, 3:1, 4:24. An input is routed to the output with the number offset by 3 - 1:4, 2:1, 3:2, 4:3
The Direction parameter determines if the Clock input moves the rotation forward or backwards, while the Reset input resets the clock to the first step.

ADDAC306 is a 5 channel multi-directional CV generator.
You can think of it as a &#34;sweet spot&#34; controller, or a hands-on way of transiting from one state to another.
Each of the five channels has MINIMUM, SPAN and DIRECTION controls, a common CV IN and a common TRANSITION CONTROLLER slider.
MINIMUM sets the minimum channel voltage.
SPAN sets the voltage range of the channel.It essentially sets the maximum voltage that can be output from the channel, relative to what the current channel MINIMUM is. For a given SPAN value, if the MINIMUM voltage is changed then the maximum voltage output from that channel will also change respectively.
DIRECTION sets whether the voltage transition for each channel goes from MINIMUM to maximum, or maximum to MINIMUM.
The TRANSITION CONTROLLER slider controls the transition from the minimum value (A) to the maximum value (B) or vice versa, according to the settings of each independent channel.Moving this slider generates 5 different voltages with 5 different ranges and directions. The transition can also be operated from a CV source at the CV IN, in which case the slider position acts as an attenuator for the incoming voltage.
The maximum range of each channel can be set to either 5 or 10 volts, by 5 jumpers in the back of the module. Only positive voltages are generated at the output.
VC Transition makes for an awesome state transition controller. Plug its outputs to various CV controller parameters of your audio effects modules. Set the slider to position A, and set the minimum values for each channel. Then move the slider to position B and set the SPAN settings for each channel. Use the TRANSITION CONTROLLER slider to morph from state A to state B and backwards. Flip the DIRECTION switches to change the direction of the transition for each channel. Use the CV IN to automate the transition using LFOs, ADSRs or sequencers.
Using the CV IN you can use two ADDAC306 modules to expand your control options to 9 voltage outputs under one common slider control.
Use the VC Transitions to multiply the polyphony of a single CV sequencer by passing its outputs through the ADDAC207.
Plug the output of your ADSR envelope to the CV IN and set the channels differently to get 5 different ADSRs from one common source.

The LxD, Low Strike Duo, is a dual-response, two channel, direct-coupled, Low Pass Gate, which utilizes vactrols in order to provide simultaneous control over the Amplitude and Frequency Spectrum of an INput Signal. It is, in essence, a VCFA (Voltage Controlled Filter Amplifier). Unlike the Optomix, the LxD offers two different filter responses.
CH. 1 offers a 12db/Octave response that is mildly-resonant, while CH. 2 offers a 6bd/Octave that is non-resonant. The OUTput of CH. 1 is normalled to the INput of CH. 2. This normalization puts the two channels in series, which is similar to the VCF into VCA arrangement made popular by many monosynths of the 1970s.

Your USB device is plugged into the USB MIDI Host mkII instead of into a computer. It provides MIDI In &amp; Out sockets for USB MIDI keyboards and controllers which have only a USB B type socket. ERM MIDIclock Plus Sequencer Clock Generator is a simple yet great tool. It is a small box with only one task: generating a unbelievably clean and jitter-free MIDI clock signal for synchronising sequencers DAWs etc. Operation is super easy due to two buttons and an encoder.
MIDICLOCK+ creates a clean and tight MIDI-Clock and for allows for reliable starting, stopping and re-synchronising a number of sequencers or a DAW with flexible tempo.
The unit is operated by a few controls: the start/pause button starts and stops all connected machines that understand the MIDI commands &#34;start&#34;, &#34;stop&#34; and &#34;continue&#34;. The reset/re-start button causes the unit to reset/re-sync the MIDI song position of all connected units to the beginning of the next full bar and to re-send a &#34;MIDI start&#34; command. This makes possible to re-synchronise slaved units during playback without a break.
The tempo is being set with the encoder and the valus is shown in the display as number of BPMs. Two modes for setting the tempo are availablethat are distinguished by the display´s brightness and the &#34;M&#34;-LED: normal mode (LED off): each change of tempo has to be confried by pressing the encoder in order to prevent unwanted changes. That is useful if you want to use the unit as a steady clock generator. In live mode (LED on) every tempos change will be directly implemented. A double-click on the encoder brings you back into normal mode.

Module A-146 (LFO 2) is a Low Frequency Oscillator, which produces periodic control voltages over a wide range of frequencies.
The LFO can be used as a modulation source for a series of modules (for instance pulse width and/or frequency modulation of a VCO, modulation of a VCF cut-off frequency, amplitude modulation with a VCA).
Three outputs are available, with different waveforms: sawtooth / triangle; square wave, and positive-voltage square wave.
The waveform is continuously adjustable from rising sawtooth, through triangle to falling sawtooth. The same control affects the pulse width of the square wave.
A three-way switch can select one of three frequency ranges, spanning from one cycle every few minutes, at the lowest, up to audio frequency at the highest.

At first blush, the Anti-Oscillator appears as a standard voltage controlled oscillator, with volt per octave input, linear and exponential FM inputs (with attenuators), fine and coarse frequency controls, and dedicated triangle output. But then, there is the “MAYHEM” output!

The Palmer PAN16 is an 8 channel passive DI box in a 19" 1U rack format. Through the special MERGE THRU/IN function, the parallel THRU output can be connected as a second input for looping the signal. The signal is fed with the one from the INPUT jack as a mono sum into the output. Thus, the PAN16 offers a maximum of 16 inputs, two PAD buttons enable an attenuation of 10, 20 or 30 dB. The outputs are on XLR connectors and are electrically isolated and balanced by a transformer. They are available with 8 additional THRU-sockets on the rear panel of the device.
