A great digital recorder for when you need to record the sound externally. 2 XLR inputs, compact and portable, the recorder can capture up to 4 tracks from built-in, high-quality condenser microphones.

This is a Tascam DR-40 Audio recorder. It is basically the same unit as a Zoom H4n but Tascam has better preamps and is easier to use. There are 2 external inputs, 2 x Xlrs or 2 x Guitar 1/4" jacks. It also has two mics on the top of the unit, these can be used instead of or as well as the two physical inputs, this allows you to use simultaneously, a boom mic, a radio mic and capture a stereo atmos track at the same time. 

The built in stereo mics are exceptionally good so if you just wanted to capture a live performance or some stereo atmos for a production they are very user friendly and realiable for some basic but quality stereo recordings. 

I can gladly offer some assistance on collection and can offer a variety of mics or radio units to use in conjunction with this.

The Tascam DR-40 (V2) is a 4-track digital handheld audio recorder. It is equipped with two condenser microphones and allows you to connect two additional microphones or a stereo line signal. The external inputs are both combo jack/XLR connectors and were made by Neutrik to ensure extra solidity.

Tascam DR-40: flexibility that allows you to record anywhere

The Tascam DR-40 allows for the use four microphones simultaneously, which means you can record four tracks at once. Its overdub mode enables you to record over an earlier recording, so that you end up with even more tracks.
