The Convergent Design Gemini 4:4:4 Uncompressed Video Recorder can record 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 uncompressed from cameras that output 12-bit (e.g. Canon C500). Otherwise, Gemini records 10-bit uncompressed 4:4:4 video as DPX files to up to two Convergent Design 1.8" SSDs. It is an ideal companion to compact cameras that feature 4:4:4 SDI output, such as the Sony PMW-F3. Other compatible cameras include Arri Alexa, Sony F35/65 etc. Built-in 5" touchscreen LCD monitor (800x480, 24‐bit) is very good and clearly visible even in bright direct sunlight. It can be used for both live monitoring and playback, as well as menu navigation. The Gemini is really lightweight (612 gms/1.35lbs), low power, and features dual SDI inputs and outputs and an HDMI output. Its uncompressed so the image quality is fantastic. Activated firmware upgrades: DPX, ARRI, Canon 1) DPX raw OPTION basically sequences of uncompressed still frames. An advantage of the DPX format is that the files can be colour graded to suit the specific needs of the production. If you are working at high resolutions, planning to manipulate a shot, use VFX, insert and match to existing camera footage or archiving for the future, then DPX files will be the way to go. Just be prepared for large file sizes, time for colour correction, longer render times and playback buffering if you are planning on using them in your traditional edit. 2) ARRIRAW OPTION : Gemini 4:4:4 is ARRI Certified, supporting ARRIRAW (.ari) 2048 x 1650, up to 60fps from any ALEXA model camera 16:9, and supports 4:3 up to 48fps with desqueeze. Supports full raster live debayer monitoring and playback, including LUT support. 3) Canon OPTION: Canon Cinema Raw (.rmf) support for Canon C500, up to 60fps for 4K, 120fps 4K half-raw, and 120fps HD. Includes 4K, Quad HD, Raw, Half Raw, 2K, 12-bit (1080p) and 10-bit support.
