Equal in quality (contrast performance, sharpness and chromatic aberration), if not even better, to Cooke S4, Zeiss Compact Prime and Arri Ultra Prime lenses, and superior to Xeen. Sharp wide open, T 2.0, natural and neutral colour rendition with minimal chromic abbreviation, consistent t-stop, size, mechanics, minimal breathing. The lens is certified for 4K capture, while minimizing geometric distortion, vignetting and breathing. It also covers 6K full. This is Sony's 2nd generation of PL mount primes and has improved mechanical design. It has the widest diameter of 118 mm, the front diameter of 114 mm and is 120 mm long. Thanks to its 9-bladed iris, it delivers beautiful bokeh. The focus ring rotates 240° It has a metal housing and fits all PL-mounts, on Sony, ARRI, Ursa, etc. The CineAlta are softer than Cookes and better in terms of continuous edge-to-edge sharpness. The Cookes are becoming blurred towards the edge (less suitable for 4K). The CineAlta lenses are heavier than the Cooke S4/i, but still much lighter than the Zeiss Master Primes or even the Cooke 5/i. If you need various focal lengths for your shoot, you can rent a set of 6 lenses. All have the same widest diameter, front diameter, and geared barrel locations. With this consistency you won't be losing time to adjust/exchange lenses. The whole set is also colour matched: perfect for matching colours in post.
