Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II MFT Camera

This is the MK II version of the Olympus flagship M1 camera range.

I normally don’t consider Olympus when I’m looking at stills or video cameras but I got the chance to shoot with one of these cameras recently and was extremely impressed with the Image stabilisation system.

In fact so much so that I can confidently say that Olympus has the best in body image stabilisation of any camera manufacturer…..period!

Match it with a lens like a a 24-105 zoom for a fantastic hand held camera for documentary use. Impressive battery life as well with the huge battery.

For video it has OM Log and 4K DCI all-intra capture (inc 24p) at an incredibly high bit rate of 237 Mbps. Mic input, headphone output and dual SD (UHS-II/UHS-I) card slots. It outputs 4:2:2 over HDMI.

Some very impressive photography features as well inc 60fps burst mode using the electronic shutter!

Information about the camera....

The camera is an outstanding low light performer with either 4K 4:2:2 10bit internal recording or 16 bit Raw output over HDMI for 12bit ProRes raw recording to Atomos Ninja V or V+ with 15 stops of dynamic range.
 

Superb slo-mo capabilities with 4К up to120Р and 1080p at 240Р 

Phenomenal AF performance with Fast Hybrid 759 phase-detection AF points and enhanced Real-time Eye AF screen tracking. All with touch screen tracking.

It incorporates 5-axis optical image stabilisation for rock steady pictures.

Rolling shutter is extremely well controlled 
and without a doubt it has the best EVF on any camera to date with a 9.4 million dot QXGA Oled viewfinder. 

The camera also isn't limited in it's record times. The A7S III will keep recording until either the battery gives out or the card fills up.

Sony have really though about usability with this model. it has a much improved menu system making it intuitive to use
