This cordless oscillating multi-tool is a revolutionary piece of kit; there are so many uses for it that there’s an entire genre of YouTube videos showing clever applications. At a basic level, it wobbles a protruding serrated blade slightly, allowing for flush cuts and plunge cuts, but I’ve found it to be capable of just about anything that another cutting tool could be doing, except heavy-duty stuff. It’s good for cutting off protruding nail or screw heads, making an electrical socket hole in plywood or plasterboard, precise cuts of pipes, opening cereal packets, and so on. This one is particularly good at getting into awkward places - not only can the blades be mounted pointing sideways or at other angles, but the whole head can be pivoted. It’s got a dial to adjust the speed (avoids getting some materials too hot) and can be locked into the on position when holding the trigger is impractical. It comes with loads and loads of blades for different applications, like wood, metal and plastic, different sizes of cuts, a blunt smooth-ended scraper for paint and rust and adhered stuff (my favourite!), and a sander attachment; due to the nature of sandpaper, you’ll have to supply your own though. It’s also got an adaptor piece to make it compatible with other styles of multi-tool attachment, apparently.
