This Ryobi cordless random orbit sander takes a lot of the elbow grease out of sanding, it really is a welcome relief to use this thing for larger areas compared to rubbing manually. It’s also less likely to take off on its own journey than, say, a belt sander. Its website says it has a 2.5mm orbit sanding motion, as well as the random orbital action to prevent leaving a swirly pattern. It also recommends it for light to medium applications like fine finishing or removing paint. It comes with a dust filter attachment (the black tube) but a vacuum cleaner hose can be attached there instead. Sandpaper is attached by hook-and-loop (Velcro[tm] to you and I), so I’ve added a go-between pad to reduce damage to the sander’s disc itself. The nature of sandpaper being what it is, I’m afraid you’re going to have to supply your own for this one.
