The X-Rite i1 Display Pro monitor calibrator is an industy staple of calibration devices. The i1 Display Pro works with all displays including newer LED monitors. You can use it with your monitor's or projector's proprietary software (check the manufactuter's website) or you can visit download the latest and most up-to-date installer directly from X-Rite's website to use the X-Rite calibration interface. Calibrating a monitor is actually very manageable for a first-time user. Whatever software you use, there are usually step-by-step guides within the software to walk you through the process (I calibrate my BenQ SW270C monitor with BenQ's native Palette Master Elements software, and it is very easy to do.) I'd suggest finding a Youtube video for your display that walks through the calibration process. 

If you're asking "Why should I calibrate my monitor? Is it necessary?" Necessary is perhaps the wrong word. It's not necessary at all, but strongly recommended if you want reliability and accuracy for digital and print production. Reasons to consider:

- Our eyes can deceive us with the color we see.

- When we edit on a monitor that isn't calibrated, we essentially edit our photos with a filter already applied that the end viewer will view differently.

- You can rest assured that printed colors are far more accurate to the International Color Consortium's (ICC's) profiles than how they appear on your screen.

-You can rest assured that your colors while editing on your screen are accurate to the ICC's standard and thus delivering accurate colors to browsers, apps, and programs that apply ICC standards and embedded color profiles.
